Burlington Senior Vice President, Merchandise Planning in Burlington, New Jersey


The Senior Vice President of Merchandise Planning is responsible for supporting the off price model by driving sales and gross margin improvement with assortments that align to our customer’s needs and preferences.

  • Responsible for leading the strategic initiatives of both regional and chain plans, ensuring the development and execution of accurate and consistent plans, revisions and projections.

  • Responsible for collaborating, influencing, and driving to consensus all short and long term merchandising strategies and objectives.

  • Oversee the analysis of historical and current trends to achieve business and financial objectives.

  • Partner with the EVP Merchandise Planning and GMM in forecast meetings; overseeing all opportunities and risks through the forecast process.

  • Demonstrates flexibility in adjusting plans in season to positively react to trends and minimize risks.

  • Establishes a strong partnership with VP’s of P&A to collaborate and build consistency and structure to innovate and build efficiencies.

  • Lead and develop a world class team, achieving high levels of engagement through positive motivation.

  • Focus team to capitalize on seasonal transition opportunities. Optimize receipt flow with goal to increase sales and improve gross margin.

  • Effectively lead organization to utilize and continue to develop tools to drive off price business model.

  • Operate at both a strategic level and demonstrate an ability to understand, teach and review the fundamentals, including class level plans.

  • Strong assessor and developer of direct reports and management team.

Education and Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred

  • 15+ years’ experience in a senior leadership role in retail or related business, off price experience preferred

  • Direct experience in developing and/or evolving a localization strategy

  • Passion for Retail - A desire to make one of the world’s strongest off price apparel and home furnishings retailers even stronger.

  • Communication - Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and in writing.
