Job purpose

Responsible to assist Partners/Principals/Project Managers in project design preparation of plans, technical reports, calculations and applications

Duties and responsibilities

  • Perform assigned projects including project administration at the highest level of technical excellence.

  • Complete assignments on time within budget.

  • Continually improve the skills of using AutoCAD, Autodesk products and other relevant software.

  • Continually improve technical knowledge and skill.

  • Assist others when requested.

  • Perform field observations/visits when requested.

  • Maintain detailed up to date project files.

  • The position may include other responsibilities as assigned.

    The position includes all other responsibilities that may be necessary to fulfill the duties associated with the position of Design Engineer or as may be assigned.


Maintain a minimum 100% utilization rate (billable and collectible hours as a percent of total available hours). On time completion of assigned projects. Assigned projects are done correctly the first time.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position may occasionally require longer hours when workload or project deadlines require it.


Travel is primarily local and occurs during the business day. Travel may be required to visit different project sites, attend client meetings or other CME office locations in response to a project need or client request.

Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge

Registration as an EIT, Licensed Engineer or equivalent Planning and Zoning experience Active member of at least one Professional Society

Required Education and Experience

B.S. in Civil Engineering 3-4 years of experience in the municipal sector with a heavy emphasis on capital project design and administration
